The challenge
Month-end close took 7 business days with 20 FTEs and deadlines were still missed. Intercompany reconciliations, AR cash application, and journal entries were the biggest bottlenecks, with no real-time visibility into close status.
The approach
A 4-week process-engineering sprint identified 14 automation candidates and a target operating model. Over two quarters we delivered the automations alongside a Power BI close cockpit fed by a dbt-modelled warehouse.
The solution
UiPath bots for cash application, intercompany matching, bank reconciliation, and journal posting. A Snowflake data warehouse with dbt models. A Power BI close cockpit refreshing every 15 minutes. An observability dashboard for bot health, exceptions, and SLA status.
The outcome
The close dropped from 7 business days to 4.2. Intercompany mismatches resolved during close week fell 68%. Freed-up FTEs moved into control and analytics roles. Leadership now sees close status in real time instead of finding out about problems on day six.
